John is a graduate in Business Administration of Dublin Business School. He has returned to academia after a diverse career encompassing international sales and marketing, digital publishing and as a tourism technologist. John has also run a successful Digital Tourism start up and has won several awards including Best use of ICT with BT Golden Eye (2007) and Innovative Use of ICT with Belfast City Council.   He is a charted member of institute of marketing.

He gained a MSc in Management at the Ulster University (UU) in 2014 and joined the doctoral program in 2015. His doctorate, titled ’The Smart Event Experience: A Many-to-many Co-creation, was awarded in 2019. He is lecturing in Digital Transformation at UU  and joined the original SNAIP-DC collaboration and has served as co PI and liaison with the organisers of the North West 200 Road Racing Festival ever since. He was academic lead and shared the UU’s Research Impact Excellence Award for 2017 with Dr Peter Bolan.

He has also been nominated as an Active Learning Champion on behalf of UU’s Business School.
